Mahidol University

One of Thailand’s oldest and most prestigious public universities, Mahidol University began life in 1888 as the medical school of Siriraj Hospital. It maintains a strong focus on medicine and health sciences and is ranked among the top 150 universities in the world for medical education. Over the past 50 years Mahidol University has expanded to excel in engineering, ICT, business and social sciences, and is leading the way in fields at the intersection of medicine, engineering, and ICT such as biomedical engineering and medical informatics.
Mahidol University is a research-led institution and a member of Thailand’s Research Universities Network (RUN) which supports the Thai society, government and economy through innovative, need driven research.
The philosophy of its namesake, H.R.H. Prince Mahidol of Songkla, “True success is not in the learning, but in its application to the benefit of mankind.” still guides work today.
