One-day Workshop with the University of Manchester

A workshop titled "Nuclear Reactions: Theory and Experiment" was held at the University of Manchester’s J Bell Burnell Lecture Theatre on March 7, 2025. The workshop was jointly organized by the University of Manchester and the Research Center for Nuclear Physics at the University of Osaka.

It aimed to enhance research collaboration among researchers from both universities and other institutions, while also strengthening the connection between theoretical and experimental studies of nuclear interactions, nuclear structures and nuclear reactions.

Participants from the University of Manchester, the University of Osaka and four other universities presented their recent achievements in research on the structure of unstable nuclei, nuclear clustering phenomena, transfer reactions, knockout reactions, photon-induced reactions, and related theoretical developments. Students from the University of Manchester participated in the workshop and actively joined the discussions. Two researchers from the University of Osaka visited the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester. It’s where Ernest Rutherford, often called the father of nuclear physics, conducted his pioneering work.

Participants shared expertise, learned from each other’s work and discussed potential collaborations, noting several themes for joint research. Both universities agreed to pursue further collaboration and have identified international funding opportunities, supporting future research directions.
