A workshop titled “Bridging Systems: Solution–System Fit and AI Validation for Global Health Innovation” was held at the Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Osaka, on 16–17 October 2025.
Organized on the proposal of Dr. Omar Dabash from the University of Melbourne, the workshop aimed to strengthen research exchange in the growing fields of AI and digital health. Participants from both institutions introduced their ongoing AI-driven healthcare projects and discussed practical approaches to evaluation, prototyping, and implementation. These exchanges allowed researchers to explore how digital health tools can be adapted to different healthcare systems in Australia and Japan.
Two researchers from the University of Melbourne visited Osaka for the workshop and toured laboratories within the Graduate School of Medicine, deepening mutual understanding of each university’s research environment. From the University of Osaka, seven researchers and five students took part. Presentations by early-career researchers and students contributed to lively discussion and highlighted the potential for future collaboration.
Through this workshop, participants identified several themes suitable for joint research and confirmed the value of continued interaction between the two universities. Based on these outcomes, both institutions plan to further develop collaborative activities and explore opportunities for joint applications to international external funding programs.
