Osaka University established a strategic partnership with The University of Manchester on 4 December 2023.

This partnership will promote and facilitate increased levels of research engagement between the two universities with several areas of mutual interest and complementarity already identified. Thematic research areas to be explored are as follows:  Environmental Sustainability, Advanced Materials including Photonic Materials and Nanomaterials, Biological Science and Biotechnology, and Quantum Materials and Technologies.

It is expected that the strategic partnership will promote joint research and active student exchange.
