The 23rd Academic Exchange Seminar between Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Osaka University（OU）was held online on 8 November 2021. 

During the opening session, SJTU Dean of School of Smart Energy Innovation, HUANG Zhen, and OU Executive Vice President of Global Engagement, KAWAHARA Genta, greeted attendees. 

Brief explanations of collaboration were delivered by representatives in each of the 9 fields, including Materials Science, Joining & Welding, Laser Engineering, Information Sciences, Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Chemistry, Combustion Engineering, and Smart City Studies.

During the individual workshops held from 8 November through early December, attendees discussed plans and the progress of research exchange. 

Additionally, the 2nd SJTU-OU Online Students Forum was held on 13 November. Facilitated by one student from both SJTU and OU, three students from each university made presentations on how their research and activities will contribute to the future of our society in terms of achieving the SDGs. 

These presentations are expected to be key contributions to the future of their respective fields, making this student forum a significant event in enhancing mutual understanding between students and promoting international exchange.
